Playa Vik José Ignacio sits on the Mansa (“Calm”) beach in the bohemian chic village of José Ignacio, on the most coveted point of the Uruguayan coastline, with a panoramic view of the landscape and ocean beyond.
The avant-garde beachfront retreat features a central “Sculpture” building flanked by six small houses or casas each comprised of two or three bedrooms and private gardens. Each casa features a fireplace and has a distinctly unique design and art filled interior.
The property operates in an environmentally friendly manner through its extensive use of natural resources, innovative solar technologies, intelligent energy efficiency systems, as well as collecting and recycling water. All heating is done by radiant heat generated by solar tubes. Fireplaces also provide additional heat and ambiance when needed.
The design has focused on minimizing the need for energy use by maximizing the use of nature to heat, cool, ventilate and irrigate.
Playa Vik features extensive art from the owners’ collection of leading international and Uruguayan artists.
Art and design are central to the interior spaces and are featured throughout, boasting works from unparalleled selection of contemporary Uruguayan and international artists including, James Turrell, Zaha Hadid, Anselm Kiefer and Pablo Atchugarry, among many others.
LOCATION
Located in the chic and safe beach village of José Ignacio, facing the Southern Atlantic Ocean, next to restaurants, art galleries, shops, vineyards, golf courses and more.
HOW TO GET THERE
> via Punta del Este airport (PDP), which is serviceable by daily flights from airports in Argentina and Brazil. It accommodates private jets 24 hours a day and is forty-five minutes drive.
> via Montevideo airport (MVD) one and a half hours away.

SCULPTURE BUILDING
The building’s fifty-five foot inclined façade features a vast sliding wall of glass allowing guests to enjoy the majestic views of José Ignacio’s vibrant coastline.
The sculpture includes expansive communal living and dining spaces, a library, three bedroom suites and an Italian designed kitchen by Strato Cucine.
OUR CASAS
The Casas blend the interior and exterior as fully retractable windows lead out to these unique private gardens. Dividing the casas are large Bougainillea plants that grow upwards towards the casas’ “living roof” of colorful rayitos del sol, Uruguayan wildflowers, which cover and sweep across the ondulating earth roofs-capes of the casa pavilion, creating a striking panorama of natural color.

ACCOMMODATION
Casa Tierra and Casa José Ignacio can accommodate 4 guests in its' main suite and it’s second suite with bunk beds.
Casa Blanca can accommodate 4 guests in its’ two double suites.
Casa Ebano, Raices and Mar can accommodate 5 guests in its 2 main suites and its third single suite.
Extra bed can be accommodated in some suites.
DINING
Guests are encouraged to dine family style in the indoor dining room, in the privacy of the Casas, or on the outdoor terrace overlooking the barbeque. Playa Vik's signature fish BBQ overlooking the southern Atlantic, the Playa Mansa beach and the fishing boats is a
truly memorable experience completed by a sunset described as the best on the planet!
You will enjoy traditional Uruguayan barbeque, fresh fish and seafood, locally grown fruits and vegetables and homemade breads and pastries all prepared by the property’s talented in-house chef.
Lots of dining options within walking distance are not to be missed.
